So I believe I’ve written before about Natalie’s extreme love for the cartoon The Backyardigans. I must admit myself that it is a really cute show with very catchy songs. Thanks to my friend Anna and the copy of the Backyardigans music CD she gave us, these songs are really stuck in my head ALL THE TIME! Anyway, besides the show itself Natalie loves all things Backyardigan including these little plastic toy figures of Pablo and Uniqua (2 of the characters from the show). Lately she carries at least one of them with her much of the time. Last night she refused to give up Uniqua and drank her entire bottle holding the bottle in one hand and Uniqua in the other.

First thing this morning she found Pablo and Uniqua and was crawling around with both of them in her hands. I put her in her chair for breakfast still holding them. I put Cheerios on her tray and she looked like she really wanted to eat them but could not figure out how to pick them up while still holding her toys. So I gave her milk and this is how she attempted to drink it:

For the record, she almost did it. Just when the straw touched her lips she dropped the cup. After that she must have decided that the toys could wait and she dropped them in favor of eating breakfast. Oh, and she also likes to hold them while watching the TV show. SO CUTE!!!

We had a great dinner at Uncle David & Aunt Lauren’s on Sunday. All the cousins were there and had fun playing together. Unfortunately, on Monday came a diagnosis of ear infections and pink eye for both Kiernan and Carter and by Tuesday Ronan had pink eye too. Here we are on Wednesday and despite my feeling that the abnormal crusty stuff coming from Natalie’s eyes this morning meant she too had it, her Pediatrician says no. However, just in case, we were given a prescription for eye drops. I could be wrong but I have a feeling that we may need them!

Thanks to everyone who donated to and participated in the 2009 March For Babies. The New Hall Times Team raised a little over $1,000 this year! Unfortunately I was not well prepared and this was the only picture I took at the walk before my camera battery died. Can you tell how excited Natalie and Carter were about having their picture taken?

Natalie’s Easter was her best yet! She finally enjoyed some Easter candy and even participated in an Easter Egg hunt at her cousins’ house. Daddy The Easter Bunny put together a HUGE basket this year filled with things that Natalie loves like M&M’s and toy cars! Ok, there was also some candy in there for Natalie’s parents!
Here is Natalie posing with her cousin Ronan on Easter morning:
Natalie had fun hunting for eggs with Sammy at Aunt Tammy & Uncle Dave’s house:
Last summer Natalie cried if you put her down in the grass so I was not sure how she would react when I put her down for the egg hunt. It was such a nice surprise when she giggled and took off crawling all over the yard. She wore herself out crawling around the yard!
Thanks for checking in on us. Hope you have enjoyed the pictures. If you are using a Mac the pictures may appear distorted but if you click on the picture it should come up normally. If you still have trouble viewing the pictures leave a comment to let me know this please.

On Saturday (4/11) we took Natalie to Cookie Cutters to get her first “real” hair cut. She did a great job. We had her sit on my lap and they put on a Backyardigans DVD which kept her distracted enough that it was a breeze to cut her hair. She did cry once but just at the end when the stylist tried to use the blow dryer on her. Now her bangs are not hanging in her eyes and she no longer has a mullet. She was such a big girl and we are so proud of her!

Natalie and I went Kohl’s shopping with Amy and her 30% off coupon tonight and I couldn’t resist this Leap Frog toy for Natalie. It’s magnetic with farm animal pieces and great to put on the fridge for Natalie to practice standing. I tried it out as soon as we got home and Natalie did great standing like this for about a minute or so at a time.

More big Natalie news! Last night she ate an entire Wendy’s chicken nugget! I am so glad that she is finally eating meat. I was getting a little discouraged lately because her diet has been basically the same for months now and although she is more willing to try new things lately she often does not want more than 1 or 2 bites of anything other than her old standbys (yogurt, banana baby food, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, cheerios & rice cakes). Here are pictures of her cute self finishing off her chicken nugget last night.

Today Natalie had her 2.5 year check up with her Pediatrician. The nurse gave me a look like I was crazy when I explained that this is what we were there for. I then had to explain that Dr H likes to see Natalie more often since she was a preemie and has developmental delays. Dr H gave her a good report. She looks healthy (and she is – the last time she was there was for her 2 year check up) and is growing well. Natalie weighs 25 lbs and is 35 inches long meaning she has gained 3.5 lbs and 1 inch in 6 mos – WOW!
In other news, we started with a new Occupational Therapist last week. This is the first time we have to go to the therapist instead of the therapist coming to our house but I think it will be worth it because in a clinic setting Natalie will have access to more equipment and experiences than she would at home. We will miss Natalie’s former OT, Jen, so much but we know that we will still see her from time to time as she became a friend in addition to therapist over the past 2 years! Thanks for everything Jen!

Would you believe it if I told you that I (Jeanne) worked long and hard yesterday to totally redesign our website? You’d be surprised, wouldn’t you? Ok, well what really happened is that Del worked really hard much of the day yesterday totally revamping the website. It looks great, doesn’t it? It was a little frustrating for him because he still did not get everything the way he really wanted it. Anyway we are going to try it out for awhile and make sure it works out for us. Be sure to check out Natty on Demand, there are several new videos posted! I love them all but the one of her singing is my favorite!
The picture above is of her last night eating chocolate cheesecake. She still rejects many foods but chocolate in any form makes past her lips every time! BTW, on the new blog you can click on the picture to enlarge it.
